CONSOL Energy Inc. has expanded its relationship with Linde North America for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and associated equipment for use in CONSOL's operations in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
The companies were previously engaged in a pilot-scale project whereby CONSOL worked with Linde to roll out bi-fuel diesel/LNG stationary-power applications for drilling rigs. Under the new agreement, Linde's LNG solutions will be more widely used to power gas drilling for CONSOL and may also be expanded to applications such as hydraulic fracturing, mining and marine operations.
‘The success of our initial collaboration with Linde to power our drilling operations with a hybrid fuel incorporating LNG gave us the confidence to expand our use,’ says Jeff Boggs, vice president of drilling for CONSOL.
