ClipperCreek Inc. and Silver Spring Networks say they have jointly developed an integrated electric vehicle charging station, the ClipperCreek Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) solution, that is backed by the Silver Spring Smart Energy Platform.
The companies note that the technology enables end-to-end connectivity from a utility's back office to the smart charging station. Integrated with demand management systems, utilities are able to ‘intelligently manage the charging load, keeping costs low and reducing the need to build additional generation capacity.’
ClipperCreek and Silver Spring say a number of utilities are currently developing hardware and software tools designed to work with the EVSE solution.
