China Yuchai Intl. Ltd. says 80 buses from Yutong Bus Group Co. Ltd. – all of which use the YC6G260N-40 natural gas engine from China Yuchai subsidiary Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co. Ltd. – recently traveled from Xining, Qinghai province, to the Tibetan Plateau, meeting climate requirements for operating at high altitudes.
The YC6G260N-40 is a six-cylinder engine with torque of 980 N.m at 1,400 rpm, which can use either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG). It features advanced diagnostics to optimize engine performance and incorporates a water-cooled exhaust gas turbocharger for higher efficiency and longer service life.
‘Our YC6K natural gas engine, which has been tailored specifically for the heavy-duty truck market, features 450-500 horsepower, which is the highest in its class in China,’ says Benny Goh, president of China Yuchai.
The company notes that it sold approximately 13,000 natural gas engines last year.
