The California Energy Commission (CEC) has approved a $3 million grant under its Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP).
The commission has awarded the grant to CALSTART Inc., a clean-transportation nonprofit with more than 150 member companies, to build and demonstrate four fuel cell shuttle buses. The CEC says the demonstration will occur in and around disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley.
According to the commission, its ongoing ARFVTP provides as much as $100 million annually toward innovative transportation and fuel technologies that help California meet its energy, clean-air and climate-change goals.
