BYD, a global provider of electric vehicle manufacturing, has hired 22-year transit industry veteran Ted Dowling as regional vice president of electric coach and bus for the Pacific Northwest in the company’s heavy industries unit. The company adds that Dowling will also oversee BYD Heavy Industries’ operations in Canada.

Prior to joining BYD Heavy Industries, Dowling was a vice president at Grayson Thermal Systems, a global engineering company specializing in the development of aftermarket cooling and heating products for buses and coaches.

“Ted Dowling is an industry veteran with extensive experience bringing transit solutions to market, making him the perfect candidate to continue to grow our coach and bus efforts in the Pacific Northwest and Canada,” says Macy Neshati, senior vice president of BYD Heavy Industries. “BYD continues to expand rapidly in response to high demand for our reliable and cost-effective battery-electric bus options, and we are poised for even greater growth with the addition with top talent like Dowling to our team.”

According to the company, the vacancy filled by Dowling was created last month when Zach Kahn was promoted to the newly created role of director of government affairs for North America. As such, Kahn will lead BYD’s engagement at the federal, state and local levels.
