Asheville, N.C., Is The Nation’s Newest Clean Cities Coalition

The U.S. Department of Energy has officially designated the Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition, based in Asheville, N.C., as the nation's 86th Clean Cities Coalition.

The Land of Sky Clean Vehicles Coalition works with fleets, fuel providers and other stakeholders to reduce petroleum use in transportation. The group has spent the last eight years working to increase the use of alternative fuels and advanced technologies in various vehicle platforms.

The coalition also administers Buncombe County's Mountain Mobility transportation fleet, which has converted 10 passenger vans to propane autogas through Alliance AutoGas.
