ABB has released its Terra SmartConnect (SC) electric vehicle (EV) direct-current fast charger – a product aimed squarely at commercial use among fleets, car dealerships and other groups – in the North American market.
The company says the 20 kW charging station, which complies with the CHAdeMO fast-charging standard, can fully charge an EV in 30 to 120 minutes. The unit is capable of being integrated into existing Level 2 AC charging networks, and it includes a range of connectivity features.
The Terra SC comes standard with an outdoor-rated steel housing and a full-color, eight-inch, intuitive touchscreen user interface. It is quick and easy to install at almost any location due to its ultra-thin design and simple floor and wall-mount connections, ABB says.
