Trillium CNG, a developer of compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling infrastructure, has completed construction of a new public access, Class-8 accessible CNG fueling station on the southwest side of Charlotte, N.C.
The station is part of an agreement with Frito-Lay North America, which selected Trillium CNG to design, build, operate and maintain CNG stations to serve its fleet of heavy-duty tractor-trailers.
The new station, located in an industrial park at 9960 Brookford St., is about one mile from I-485 and I-77: two major interstates that serve the greater Charlotte metropolitan area.
The CNG station will operate 24/7 and use Trillium CNG's proprietary fast-fill hydraulic intensifier compressor. There are two fueling lanes, with expansion for an additional lane as demand increases, the company says.
This is the fifth of eight stations that Trillium is building for Frito-Lay, according to Trillium President Mary Boettcher. The first was in Beloit, Wis., in June of last year.
Trillium CNG is also set to build, operate and maintain a public-access, fast-fill CNG fueling station in Duluth, Minn., for convenience-store chain Holiday Stationstores.
This station will be located at 3931 W. First St. and will be open 24/7. Holiday says it will also begin operating CNG-powered trucks in its fuel delivery fleet.
The station, which is open to all vehicles, will have access for heavy-duty fleet trucks. The dual hose dispenser will allow two semi-trailers to fuel at the same time and will also feature Trillium's same fast-fill hydraulic intensifier compressor.
