On June 11, one Pacific Northwest state will mark a major milestone: the opening of Oregon's first public-access compressed natural gas (CNG) station.
Located at 65 N. Seneca Rd. in Eugene, the station – known as TravelCard Commercial Fueling CNG – is operated by the owners of Eugene-based Truck Haven. The CNG refueling equipment was installed at an existing gasoline and diesel station at a cost of approximately $500,000.
Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber will be on hand to cut the ribbon at the station, joined by Greg Kantor, CEO of NW Natural Gas, and representatives from the state's Department of Energy. Companies including Cummins Westport, World CNG, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth and others will also be in attendance.
