Tesla Motors Inc., maker of the premium Model S electric vehicle, is rolling out a leasing program enabling small and medium business fleets to take advantage of tax deductions.
‘Our leasing program is straightforward and transparent, and we've designed it to be user-friendly,’ the company published in its blog. ‘To begin with, business customers can easily see upfront their monthly cost of leasing while configuring their car on our website.’
These business leases are made available through a special Tesla Finance subsidiary. The company is advertising Model S business leases starting at $408/month. That figure, however, is derived from taking a monthly payment of $1,012/month and subtracting a ‘gasoline savings’ of $261/month and a business tax benefit of $343/month.
The cash price of a Model S is $61,070.
