Propane distribution company Blue Star Gas has been working incrementally on propane autogas refueling sites in the Puget Sound, Washington, region for more than two years, and the company is now getting the word out about the infrastructure that it has developed.
One notable detail about this build-out is that the autogas stations – 11 of them – were all privately funded. Blue Star Gas paid for all of the facilities without the support of federal grants or other direct incentives in order to serve an existing overall fleet of approximately 400 propane vehicles within the stations' footprint. Every refueling site is open to the public 24 hours a day.
‘This latest refueling network project is an example of our commitment to servicing our customers' needs with the latest propane autogas refueling technology available,’ said Blue Star Gas' Darren Engle, in a press release.
Blue Star Gas, which is a part of the Alliance AutoGas network, opened its first propane station in October 2011 in Tukwila, Wash., to serve Seattle Children's Hospital's fleet of propane-powered shuttle buses. The hospital now operates more than a dozen of these vehicles.
