Atlanta Gas Light Co. (AGL) says it will be opening two new compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling stations in Decatur, Ga., and Oglethorpe, Ga., that will be operated by DeKalb County and the Flint River Fuel Center.
AGL first petitioned the Georgia Public Service Commission to build a network of CNG stations back in early 2011. Now, the company has seven such facilities that are currently under construction, including three additional stations in metro Atlanta, one in Savannah and one in Valdosta.
In addition to the seven stations under contract, AGL is also administering programs whereby the utility works directly with fleet operators and potential station developers to explore CNG station options, including the development of refueling stations under the company's V-52 tariff rate schedule.
AGL also has a lease program for homeowners and small business owners to install home-based CNG refueling infrastructure. Those leases are available for $60/month with a five-year commitment.
