Blue Bird Corp. and ROUSH CleanTech are kicking off their ‘Propane Road Tour’ this week to commemorate the full delivery of the largest single order of propane-powered school buses in the U.S.
The fleet taking delivery of this last bus – a Blue Bird Vision equipped with a ROUSH CleanTech autogas system – is Student Transportation Inc. subsidiary Student Transportation of America (STA). Late last year, STA inked a deal to acquire 434 propane buses for use in Omaha and Millard, Neb.
The tour begins on Thursday at Blue Bird's headquarters in Fort Valley, Ga. From there, the bus will travel to Omaha, making stops in Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri. These stops will coincide with press events and educational presentations designed to raise awareness of propane autogas.
‘The purpose of the Propane Road Tour is to provide the opportunity for school districts and communities to learn,’ says Phil Horlock, president and CEO of Blue Bird.
The tour will end in Omaha on July 17 at STA's new terminal.
