IMPCO Automotive says it is now a ship-through partner for Ford Motor Co. as a
Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) for gaseous fuels.
IMPCO offers its prep packages – including bi-fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane autogas – for the Ford E-Series vans and Super Duty trucks, from the F-250 through F-550 models.
Ford's ship-through program facilitates a vehicle's progress from the assembly plant into IMPCO's facility in Union City, Ind., where it gets the alt-fuel conversion. Once the installation of the fuel system is completed, the vehicle re-enters Ford's delivery channels and is shipped to the buyer.
IMPCO Automotive is a division of IMPCO Technologies Inc., which is a subsidiary of Fuel Systems Solutions. The company began working with Ford as a ship-through partner last month.
