Ryder System Inc. is offering fleet operators and businesses located near Sacramento, Calif., the opportunity to test-drive natural gas vehicles (NGVs) free of charge. Three-day rentals of three compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks are available: a Freightliner tandem-axle tractor, a Freightliner single-axle tractor and a GreenKraft light-duty truck.
‘There is great interest in natural gas vehicles among commercial fleets, but some businesses are hesitant to adopt the technology because they are unsure how the vehicles will perform,’ says John Gleason, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ryder Fleet Management Solutions. ‘The free rental offer is another way we are helping businesses experience these vehicles first-hand in a real world environment.’
Ryder rents or leases both CNG and liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles, as well as offers its Flex-to-Green Lease option. This solution allows businesses to start with a diesel-powered vehicle and then have the option to convert to an NGV after a year.
