Honeywell subsidiary UOP LLC has signed an agreement to license technology to Emerald Biofuels LLC, a company that develops refineries for renewable-diesel transportation fuel, to produce Honeywell Green Diesel at a facility in Louisiana.
Emerald will use the proprietary Ecofining process technology – which was jointly created by UOP and Eni SpA – to produce 85 million gallons per year of Honeywell Green Diesel from non-edible, second-generation oils and animal fats. Honeywell Green Diesel is a drop-in replacement for traditional diesel that is chemically identical to petroleum-based diesel.
International Alliance Group will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.
