Germany-based Webasto, a global automotive and aftermarket equipment manufacturer, has announced its entrance into the North American electric vehicle (EV) charging market and plans to unveil a full-service EV charging program.

Under the motto “Driving the Future Since 1901,” the company says it is presenting charging solutions that can be adapted to the specifications of car manufacturers as well as retrofit solutions. The wall-mounted Level-2 charging technology products will be displayed publicly for the first time in North America at the CES 2018 event in Las Vegas from Jan. 9 to 12.

“OEMs want partners who understand and quickly adapt to their development cycles, specifications and evolving engineering needs,” says Fabian Bez, who is globally responsible for Webasto’s Thermo & Comfort business unit. “As a technology leader for thermal systems, it is our goal to become the leading system supplier of charging solutions for electric vehicles.”

The company says it will exhibit an array of Level-2 charging stations designed for North America, Europe and Chinese markets at the CES event. Compatible with both plug-in hybrid EVs and battery-electric vehicles, these units are designed for home, business and multi-unit dwelling applications, and they are designed to meet international safety standards, the company adds.
