Republic Services of Northern Ohio is replacing its older, diesel trucks by adding 25 compressed natural gas-powered trucks to its fleet, helping reduce unwanted noise and air emissions in the communities the vehicles serve.
According to Republic Services of Northern Ohio, the company’s expansion includes a new CNG fueling station and highly advanced maintenance facility, which will enable more efficient operations and service for customers throughout Lorain, Cuyahoga and Medina counties.
As reported, the new CNG fueling station will enable drivers and technicians to refuel vehicles overnight and the new maintenance facility will enable technicians to leverage the company’s standardized maintenance practices and supply chain innovation to ensure a more durable fleet and achieve greater environmental efficiencies.
“Everything we do is for our customers – from providing outstanding service to ensuring environmental responsibility in every facet of our operations,” says David Vossmer, general manager of Republic Services. “We know that our customers care about the environment, and they rely on us to help them realize a cleaner, safer and healthier future for their community. We are proud to make this investment in our local operations and do our part to preserve the natural beauty of northern Ohio for future generations.”
Known as the Blue Planet sustainability initiative, Republic is defining its approach to sustainability through decreased vehicle emissions, innovative landfill technologies, use of renewable energy, and more, saving approximately 26 million gallons of diesel fuel annually from CNG-fleet operations nationwide.
