The Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA) in Kingston, Pa., recently debuted two new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.

The LCTA says on Facebook that the “great new CNG buses will be rotating throughout [its] fleet.” The transit authority hosted an inaugural run on Sept. 6 with local community leaders.

According to a Facebook post from State Sen. John Yudichak, the vehicles represent the first time since 2013 that LCTA has expanded its bus fleet, which now totals 40.

A local report from The Citizens’ Voice says longtime driver Kevin McGee observed the CNG-powered bus offered improved handling and suspension during the inaugural run. The report notes that LCTA has plans to continue growing its CNG fleet.
