In partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and Penske Truck Leasing, Louisiana Clean Fuels is seeking interested fleets to try out a clean-burning, heavy-duty compressed natural gas (CNG) truck via the Penkse Truck Leasing Alternative Fuel Vehicle Demonstration & Enhanced Driver Experience Project. This program aims to help fleets minimize risks and costs by enabling them to evaluate the integration of CNG in their operations, for the same price as a comparable diesel truck ($100/day), before making the commitment to purchase or lease.
According to Louisiana Clean Fuels, details of the local program include the following:
CNG Truck Pick-Up/Drop-Off Location: Penske Truck Rental: 6890 Pecue Lane, Baton Rouge, La.
Nearest Fueling Station to Pick-up Location: SPARQ CNG: 8998 S Choctaw Dr., Baton Rouge, La.
Local Fueling Station (without trailer): Clean Energy at New Orleans Airport: 1017 Airline Dr., Kenner, La.
Trial Period/Cost: Ongoing; Between 1-30 days / $100 rental fee per day/
Technical Assistance: Penske will provide training resources and 24/7 roadside assistance.
CNG Truck Specifications: 2015 Freightliner Cascadia, ISX12G, 400HP, Allison 6 speed auto.
Gross Combined Weight (GCW): 80,000 lbs.
Approximate Range: 400 miles.
