Adsorbed Natural Gas Products Inc. (ANGP) has received a patent for its low-pressure storage system for natural gas vehicles (NGVs).

On Oct. 30, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U.S. Patent Number US 10,113,696 B1 for “integrated on-board low-pressure adsorbed natural gas storage system for an adsorbed natural gas engine.”

ANGP says its system reduces the compression requirement for NGVs by 75%. The company focuses on large-frame, light-duty vehicles (e.g., half-ton pickup trucks, vans and large SUVs).

“We are extremely excited about the issuance of this patent and having the USPTO recognize the unique art our company has produced,” comments Robert Allen Bonelli, co-founder and CEO of ANGP. “ANGP now holds the U.S. patent for this game-changing technology; has succeeded in working through the Ford Qualified Calibration Modifier and Qualified Vehicle Modifier program to calibrate our storage technology to Ford’s 2018 and 2019 5.0 L V8 port fuel direct injection technology for the 2018 and 2019 F150; and is currently entering the market with our trademarked PHANGV F150.”
