Westport says it is rolling out both dedicated and bi-fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) configurations for the 2015 Ford Transit Connect – a mainstay of numerous fleets in the passenger and cargo transportation sectors.
In the new Transit Connect, the Westport WiNG Power System is paired with a 2.5-liter engine that is factory-equipped with a gaseous-prep package (hardened valves and valve seats, etc.) and upfitted by Westport through Ford Motor Co.'s Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) program.
‘Dedicated and bi-fuel options will give fleets more fuel flexibility when choosing to fill up with CNG,’ the company says. ‘Westport's Transit Connect will be compliant with Clean Port Act emissions standards, ensuring that fleets and small businesses who service airports can take advantage of natural gas.’
Fleets can order the Westport-equipped vehicles through Ford dealerships now.
