The Altronic business unit of HOERBIGER Engine Solutions says the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has certified its GTI Bi-Fuel diesel/gaseous fuel product line for use with off-road compression-ignition engines in stationary applications.
The GTI Bi-Fuel system is designed to allow diesel engines to operate on a blend of diesel and natural gas, enabling operators to realize reductions in fuel costs, extend the run time of the diesel tank, reduce the required volume of above-ground liquid fuel storage, and ease the logistical burden of trucking diesel fuel into difficult-to-reach locations, the company says. The system is particularly well-suited for high-horsepower diesel generators used in oil and gas production fields.
‘We are the first aftermarket supplier of a bi-fuel system to this market that has received such an executive order from the State of California,’ says Keith Brooks, senior vice president of OEM sales for HOERBIGER Engine Solutions. ‘The GTI system was able to pass the stringent emissions testing required by the state; the bottom line is that the process provides a path for emissions compliance for the users of this product.’
Altronic has been manufacturing and marketing the GTI product line since 2002.
