Echo Automotive Inc. has selected Remy International as a key supplier of components for its EchoDrive plug-in hybrid system for commercial fleet vehicles.
In addition to ensuring the supply of components for the EchoDrive system – which is scheduled for large-scale production later this year – the agreement formalizes the development of an advanced induction motor system, Echo Induction Machine, that will be assembled and distributed by Echo Automotive and available to system integrators.
‘Remy has over 100,000 electric motors on the road with over 2 billion miles today and over 10 years of electric traction motor production,’ says Jason Plotke, chairman and president of Echo Automotive. ‘Integrators and end users trust and respect the Remy brand and have confidence in Remy's proven reliability and durability.’
Remy components – its patented High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) components – are currently in use in the EchoDrive beta system and will be included in the first EchoDrive production units. The Echo Induction Motor will be available separately through EchoSolutions. Orders are being accepted now, the company says.
