Harvey Gulf International Marine (HGIM) has begun construction on its liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling facility in Port Fourchon, La. The company says the location will offer LNG fuel for both over-the-road vehicles and marine vessels.
The facility will consist of two sites, each having 270,000 gallons of LNG storage capacity in stainless steel, Type C LNG tanks. Each site will be able to transfer 500
gallons of LNG per minute.
HGIM contracted CH-IV International of Houston, as the FEED and EPC contractor and Matrix PDM Engineering of Pittsburgh for detail design and engineering. Civil engineering services are being provided by Carubba Engineering of Metairie, La., and Lockheed Martin will build the facility's LNG storage tanks.
HGIM itself is in the midst of a $350 million build-out of a dual-fuel LNG marine fleet to serve the offshore oil and gas industry.
