Nonprofit organization Energy Vision recently presented its 2013 Energy Vision Leadership Awards to individuals and organizations that have led various efforts to promote renewable transportation fuels.
Awards were bestowed upon the city of Sacramento – the first city in the U.S. to deploy a closed-loop waste-to-fuel system that supplies renewable compressed natural gas to a fleet of refuse vehicles – and Fair Oaks Dairy, which has spearheaded a manure-to-fuel initiative to produce CNG for its heavy-duty trucks.
Energy Vision recognized a number of private-sector entities that supported the Sacramento project: Clean Energy Fuels, CleanWorld, BioCNG LLC and Atlas ReFuel. The company also noted Fair Oaks Dairy's partners in its award-winning initiative: AMP Americas, Greenlane Biogas and Cummins Westport.
Additionally, actress Blythe Danner was given the Lifetime Leadership award for her years of service in supporting environmental and health projects, including the first waste recycling programs in New York City and Santa Monica, Calif.
