Balqon Corp. says it is supplying three of its Model MX-30 electric vehicles for use at the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach through a $925,000 federal grant administered by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
The new MX-30 is an all-electric truck that features 100-mile range. As a part of this project, Balqon will also install a DC fast charger that incorporates a 500 kWh lithium battery energy storage unit.
‘We are pleased to be selected for the project funded by Department of Energy to demonstrate the viability of zero-emission electric trucks in short-haul drayage applications,’ says Balwinder Samra, CEO of Balqon. ‘This project will help us develop and demonstrate short charge times by using lithium battery energy storage systems we have developed for renewable and energy storage industries.’
