Cummins Inc. says it intends to begin producing dual-fuel natural gas/diesel engines specifically for mine-haul trucks, beginning with the QSK60 model.
The company says the QSK60 will be available in standard and high-altitude configurations that will both use integrated controls to optimize the use of and seamlessly transition between diesel and natural gas. The engines will ultimately be capable of meeting U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 Final emissions standards.
Cummins notes that additional QSK engine platforms will be made available in dual-fuel configurations in the future.
