0

The North Carolina Division of Air Quality (DAQ) has issued two requests for proposals (RFPs) under phase one of the state’s Volkswagen Settlement Mitigation plan.

Under the Diesel and Bus Program RFP, $24.5 million is available, of which 40% will be allocated for school bus replacements. For the rest, 20% will go toward transit bus replacements, and heavy-duty on-road and off-road equipment replacement projects will get 10% each. Replacement fuels include newer diesel, propane autogas, natural gas and electric. Projects can be submitted by local, state and tribal governments, public or nonprofit organizations, or eligible public-private partnerships.

Under the DC Fast Charge RFP, $3.4 million is available for the installation of zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure. Projects in designated corridors will receive priority to expand the state’s charging infrastructure network. Projects can be submitted by eligible businesses; incorporated nonprofits; and state, local, tribal or municipal government agencies.

Applications will be available on July 1, with a submission deadline of Sept. 30. DAQ will also host application workshops in July to provide technical assistance. More information on the RFPs is available here.
