Icom Handling More Than 100 Propane Autogas Conversions For Light-Duty Pickup Fleet

Icom North America LLC is installing its JTG II liquid propane autogas system on 140 Ford F-150 pickup trucks in Menards Inc.'s fleet.

Menards, a company that operates home improvement stores in the Midwest, recently worked with Ferrellgas and CleanFUEL USA to add 37 public-access autogas refueling stations at its stores (36 in Illinois and one in Wisconsin). This refueling infrastructure will accommodate the F-150s once they are all equipped with Icom JTG II systems.

Menards' F-150 pickups feature Ford's 3.7-liter engine. Metro Motors, an Icom partner based in Cicero, Ill., is performing the vehicle conversions. The project began in December, and approximately 80% of the installations are complete, according to Albert Venezio, chairman of Icom North America. He tells NGT News that the project will likely wrap up within two weeks.

‘We're glad to be advancing our company forward into this growing market, since propane is a cleaner-burning fuel and less expensive, so it's a win-win for everyone,’ Menards' Jeff Abbott said in a press release.

Icom's JTG II system is EPA-approved for approximately 600 vehicle platforms, including more than 100 different 2012-2013 model-year GM and Ford models.
