The Commission of Public Works (CPW) in Greer, S.C., unveiled the city's new fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling equipment last week, setting the groundwork for a ramp-up in natural gas vehicles (NGVs).
The CPW already has three NGVs, and these units were previously refueling with existing time-fill CNG pumps, according to Greer Today. The new infrastructure is a single dispenser with dual hoses, and the site was designed to expand to two dispensers.
A pair of new NGVs will come online at the CPW within the next few months, and the city government is also looking into buying a Honda Civic CNG and ascertaining the costs associated with converting the refuse fleet to CNG. Other fleets – including AT&T and Frito-Lay, Greer Today reports – could also begin fueling at the new CNG station.
