VIA Motors eREV Van Attains EPA Certification

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has certified VIA Motors' eREV van – an extended-range, light-duty electric vehicle (EV) designed for fleet customers.

VIA Motors' V-DRIVE powertrain delivers a battery range of up to 40 miles and unlimited extended range, averaging over 100 miles per gallon in typical daily driving, the company says. VIA has already begun the shipping and delivery process: 23 eREV vans have been delivered to customers, and three more are currently in transit.

‘This all-important EPA certification validates our concept of integrating VIA's proprietary powertrain into OEM vehicles to deliver both economical and clean vehicle solutions,’ says VIA Motors CEO Pablo Acedo.

The Orem, Utah-based company is also currently working with the Electric Power Research Institute and the South Coast Air Quality Management District to deliver plug-in hybrid EVs to electric utility fleets as part of a nationwide demonstration supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.
