The CEC awarded a $2.7 million grant to the City of Gardena’s Gardena Municipal Bus Lines to conduct a battery-electric repower bus demonstration. The demonstration will occur in disadvantaged communities within Gardena.

The CEC also approved a $2 million contract with the San Diego Community College District to provide training in clean fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and to purchase specialized equipment.

According to the commission, its ongoing ARFVTP provides as much as $100 million annually toward innovative transportation and fuel technologies that help California meet its energy, clean-air and climate-change goals.
