J-W Power Co. Releases New PowerFill CNG Technology

J-W Power Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of J-W Energy Co. that specializes in leasing, sales, parts and service of natural gas compression packages, says it has developed a new patent-pending compressed natural gas (CNG) technology that significantly decreases customers’ fill time at the dispenser.

“If you are planning to build a CNG fueling station, J-W PowerFill technology increases flow rates without increasing horsepower, significantly increases use of on-site storage, reduces starts and stops on equipment, and, ultimately, enhances the customer’s fueling experience,” says James Barr, vice president of J-W Power Co.

According to the company, this patent-pending technology allows the compressor to change the number of stages dynamically to utilize high pressure from storage to yield a higher flow rate.

The technology is currently available in two models, J-W PowerFill and J-W PowerFill Lite, and both options are designed in a four-stage/two-stage configuration. When in direct-fill mode or filling storage, both package designs function in four-stage mode. While a vehicle is fueling, the package automatically switches to two-stages, increasing the flow rate up to 10 times.

Whereas storage is typically 30% usable, J-W Co. says its PowerFill technology enables over 70% usage.
