Volvo’s First Electric Hybrid Bus Now in Commercial Service

0

Volvo's first electric hybrid bus, the 7900, has been placed into commercial operations in Germany.

The bus will run on the Innovation Route 109 in Hamburg and will be used by public transportion company Hamburger Hochbahn AG to run comparative tests of innovative drive technologies under the strict everyday conditions of scheduled services.

Alongside three Volvo 7900 electric hybrid buses, Volvo's diesel hybrid buses will also be tested on the route, as well as battery fuel cell buses and fuel cell buses from other manufacturers.

In selected areas, the 7900 can be driven on electricity alone and can be deployed as a hybrid bus on all scheduled routes.
