An Inquiring FOX Affiliate Wants To Know If CNG Really Saves Drivers Money

Salt Lake City-based TV news affiliate FOX 13 is spending the next several weeks investigating a question many fleets are pondering these days: Does CNG save money?

The news station worked with local company EnergyWise to convert its own Nissan Xterra to run on compressed natural gas (CNG), and the team will drive the bi-fuel SUV under normal conditions. According to FOX 13, at approximately $4/gallon, the Xterra typically consumes about $500 in gasoline per month. In Utah, CNG is available for about $1.50/GGE.

FOX 13 plans on comparing the CNG bi-fuel vehicle against its regular vehicles and reporting on the results ‘in a couple months.’
