Georgia Municipality To Build CNG Refueling Station

The city council in Thomasville, Ga., has approved the construction of a time-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station to support the municipal fleet's conversion to natural gas vehicles (NGVs).

Florida-based Wise Gas Inc. will build the station for approximately $300,000. It will initially have the capacity to fuel six vehicles simultaneously, and the city has plans to double the size of the station in the future.

The city council had already approved the purchase of four CNG-powered refuse vehicles, which have not yet been acquired. Within the next three years, the city plans to convert all 12 of its garbage trucks to natural gas.
