AGA Systems LLC says it has received U.S. Environmental Protection Agency certification for bi-fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) applications on General Motors' model-year 2015 6.2-liter direct-injection family of engines.

These natural gas vehicles feature AGA's DuraDrive DI platform: a special CNG system that the company developed using Tier 1 OEM supplier components in order to accommodate ‘the unique operating characteristics of the GM direct-injection engine,’ the company says. GM fleet customers can now convert any light-duty truck, van and SUV model to run on both gasoline and CNG, AGA adds.

GM model-year 2015 offerings that can be converted using DuraDrive DI include the following:

  • Chevrolet Silverado
  • GMC Sierra 1500
  • GM SUVs (Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade and Escalade ESV)
  • GM Tahoe PPV (police pursuit vehicle)

AGA Systems also recently attained certification for bi-fuel CNG applications on GM 2014 and 2015 5.3-liter direct-injection engines.
