BYD, a global provider of electric vehicle manufacturing, has announced that BYD Heavy Industries Senior Vice President Macy Neshati has been appointed by the Transportation Research Board, a division of the U.S.’s prestigious National Research Council, to serve on its Transit Research Analysis Committee (TRAC).

As a member of TRAC, Neshati will contribute to the assessment of future public transportation needs that could benefit from federal investment through a national research and technology program. TRAC will also advise the Federal Transit Administration with recommendations on research needs and stakeholder engagement for federal research programs to guide future transit investments.

Neshati, an industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience in the heavy equipment and transportation industry, will serve on the committee for a term from Aug. 1, 2016, until July 31, 2018.

“I’ve been in the transportation industry a long time, and it’s clear that we are at a crossroads today regarding clean, zero-emission vehicles – and how best to invest in our growing cities,” Neshati says.

“Macy’s experience in transportation will provide this committee with significant insight into the U.S.’s needs in order to continue to build a reliable and advanced transportation system that keeps our communities moving and thriving,” says Stella Li, president of BYD America.
